I am in the process of cataloging a dinner service marked “Bon Marché (Liverpooll) Ltd LIVERPOOL”. On some pieces it says “SEMI PORCELAIN (above an anchor motif) and Bridgwood and Sons ENGLAND. It is very useful to have a photograph of the building from which it was ordered and I wonder if I can date the pieces further? They belonged to my great aunt who lived in Birkenhead and was married in 1910. Any help in dating would be appreciated.
Francis
Hi Francis,
Look at my post for 4/2/2010 – which shows Bon Marche in 1891.
Hope it will answer your question. If you are looking for an actual photograph – please let me know and I will supply you with a link to Photobox, who will be able to provide you with a 10″x8″ print. The Bon Marche store was later rebuilt as George Henry Lee (part of the John Lewis chain). The building now is a TK Maxx store
