I don’t think it ranks as one of Liverpool’s greatest architectural losses. However, the rate of pub closures in recent years has greatly depleted the city’s stock – although the actual buildings tend to survive long after they have hung up the last towels.
I rather liked the spartan, cubist frontage! Fungible tessellations! After a serious Threlly bevy in good company, who cares? As me dad used to say, in a different context: You don’t look at the mantlepiece when poking the fire.
